The Independent Rifles are hosting a moving Living History in Franklin Tennessee. This event is set up as a mobile living history and while it will not be totally devoid of modern intrusions, it will be very heavy with historical discussions from local historians, our fellow reenactors and the chance to view original items from the Battle of Franklin.

This is a Federal and Confederate Living History. Federal Participants are limited to 15 confirmed Federals and 85 confirmed Confederates. We intended to have a Confederate only event, but at the request of the Director, we are currently working on finding 15 federal volunteers.

We will be doing a haversack, uniform, and equipment inspection to ensure every participant is up to standards for this living history. The Confederate standards are not going to require the purchase of specific items, but what is on there is what we expect. We want a worn and ragged look for the weekend. The Federal impression is a little unique.  We will be portraying units that were armed with repeaters. All those wishing to be on the Federal side must have a repeater such as a Henry or a Spencer. The only exception is we are allowing Sharps Rifles.

As we mentioned this will be a mobile event. This will not be a long march, by any means, but please pack accordingly. Our march route will be from Carnton Plantation to the Carter House, with several stops planned for the day. We will be conducting several demos at each of the two key sites.

There will be some civilian participation which will be limited to 10-15 people. All these have been filled along with a nice sized waiting list. If something changes we will post it here. .

All money collected that is not used to put on the event will be donated for Battlefield Preservation at Franklin.
