RESACA - May 15-17, 2009

The Battle of Resaca is hosted by the Georgia Division and is a mainstream reenactment. Hunter Poythress was the overall Confederate Commander. We will be portraying the 10th Texas Infantry. This unit was chosen primarily due to the amount of research available thanks in large part to Scott McKay. The 10th Texas joined the Army of Tennessee after being exchanged following the disaster at Arkansas post. Initially due being perceived as cowards from the surrender at Arkansas Post, no commander wanted to allow the 10th into their ranks. General Cleburne however saw something in the unit and took them into his command, a decision he never regretted. The 10th proved to one of the hardest fighting units in the Army of Tennessee. The 10th went on to fight in every Battle the Army of Tennessee was in from Missionary Ridge to the Army's final surrender.
